Summary

This project is a collaboration between Gillamii, South Coast NRM and Ravensthorpe Agricultural Initiative Network to deliver 3 modules of activities which focus on drought mitigation and planning through shared experiences and farmer networking. We will also be collaborating with relevant government departments such as DPIRD, DWER and production industry research groups to ensure valuable and relevant content.

Module 1 – Farmer to farmer learning; activities/events/fieldwalks/sundowners encouraging the dissemination of proven successes amongst local farmers with assistance from relevant groups and agencies.

Module 2 – Farm Systems Re-Engineering; detailed drought mitigation planning session for a fixed number of farmers with project driven outcomes.

Module 3 – Legacy; up to 3 projects from the planning session will be chosen for funding assistance as a demonstration site. Further assistance will also be rendered to participants and interested parties to connect them with relevant funding opportunities and technical experts.

Outcome

  • Up to 12 networking/learning events

  • 15 Farm Drought Mitigation Plans

  • 3 Drought Mitigation Demonstration Sites
