The Gillamii received a grant of $15,000 to improve the method of communication and delivery of information to stakeholders and interested parties. The project involved the construction of a new Gillamii website and improved onsite technology at the centre.
The previous version of the Gillamii website was managed off site and was “owned” by a third party. This meant that each time the centre wished to update the website, it incurred a time delay, an update fee and a monthly maintenance fee. The new version has been developed to allow staff to update the site on a regular basis, with current information and news uploaded regularly and at no cost. As the website costs were lower than originally thought due to significant contribution from the Gillamii staff and committee to develop information, the centre applied for a variation to further improve on site technology.
A large portion of the funds have been attributed to improvements in information storage through the installation of a server, new computer, better linkages of existing infrastructure and the provision of wifi service to staff, committee and casual users of the centre.
The balance of the funding has been used to engage the services of a consultant to provide media statements able to be used by the centre over the coming 12 month period.
