SUMMARY

This Project aims to support and equip farmers with knowledge and tools across the Southern WA agricultural regions to regenerate saline and marginal production lands through facilitating,

  • Construction of a dynamic website to create accessibility to the forefront of current knowledge

  • Creation of a mobile application for on-farm, on the spot guide and solutions

  • Provision of online education including podcasts and training modules

  • Community demonstration sites

  • Saltland Masterclass workshops

  • Research (direct seeding engineering)

This is achieved with the collaborative support of DPIRD, CSIRO

OUTCOME

  • First Pilot Saltland Masterclass Workshop held in Cranbrook held in October 2019

  • Currently progressing Salinity mobile application and website

  • Site treatments on ‘Challenge’ Salinity site to combat ongoing salinity issues being undertaken in 2020. Treatments have been developed after the Masterclass workshop by DPIRD, CSIRO and Gillamii, following EM38 mapping of the area. Treatment plan includes implementation of Perennial pastures and Saltbush Alleys and revegetation to increase the production of saline land.
