District Fox & Feral Cat Shoots

Gillamii supports local community run fox, feral cat and rabbit shoots which occur simultaneously in February to have the greatest impact in controlling this pest across our landscape.

Foxes are nocturnal and territorial. They are highly efficient hunters, resourceful scavengers and may kill more prey than they can consume. At 3 months of age they hunt for small animals and gradually gain independence by January, February. Although they may stay in family groups, juvenile foxes become completely independent by March. Dispersal from the natal area can occur from March onwards when juvenile foxes are 6 to 9 months old.
